Who We Are
Embedded Cognizance ("EmCogni", "we", "us", "our") operates emcogni.com and publishes the EmCogni CLI. We build local-first developer tooling that runs entirely on-device.

What We Collect
On emcogni.com we collect only information you voluntarily provide via the waitlist / early access form: your email address and any optional message you include.
We do not use advertising SDKs, third-party tracking pixels, or cross-site cookies on this website.
We use Vercel Analytics for aggregate, privacy-first website analytics. Vercel Analytics does not set cookies, does not fingerprint individual visitors, and does not share data with advertisers. Aggregated page-view metrics help us understand which content is useful. Vercel’s privacy documentation is available at vercel.com/docs/analytics.
CLI Telemetry
The EmCogni CLI sends anonymous usage events to PostHog (posthog.com) when you run commands such as “emcogni init”, “emcogni note”, or when the MCP server handles a request. Telemetry is enabled by default on signed release builds and is a no-op on local or unsigned builds.
Each event contains: a randomly generated install UUID (created locally on first run and never linked to your identity), the event name (e.g. “cli_init”, “note_add”), CLI version, and boolean flags (e.g. whether an email address was supplied). No file paths, repository names, statement content, code, or personal data are ever included in a telemetry event.
To opt out, set the environment variable EMCOGNI_NO_TELEMETRY=1 in your shell profile, or run: emcogni config telemetry off. Either method permanently disables telemetry for that machine.
PostHog’s privacy policy is available at posthog.com/privacy.
How We Use Your Information
Email addresses submitted via the waitlist form are used solely to contact you about EmCogni early access. We will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Anonymous telemetry events are used to understand which CLI commands are used most, detect errors, and prioritise development. They are not used to identify or profile individual users.
Email Infrastructure
Form submissions are processed via Resend (resend.com), a transactional email service. Submitted data is transmitted to Resend servers solely for the purpose of delivering your submission to our team. Resend’s privacy policy is available at resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Data Retention
We retain waitlist information for as long as necessary to run the early access evaluation, and no longer than 12 months after submission unless you have entered an active agreement with us.
Anonymous telemetry events are retained in PostHog for 12 months.
You may request deletion of any personal data we hold at any time by emailing hello@emcogni.com.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict its processing.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@emcogni.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information you provide. However, no internet transmission is completely secure. We encourage you to use a work email address and avoid including sensitive credentials in any message.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the product and our data practices evolve. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of emcogni.com or the EmCogni CLI after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
